Due to the coronavirus or covid-19 pandemic that is rapidly sweeping the globe at the moment sanitisation and hygiene is now more important than ever.

At Exterior Home Clean the wellbeing of our customers is our greatest priority and we continue to guarantee the highest standard of cleanliness to our clients. Please read on to learn how we are continuing to do this.
The aim of our cleaning procedures is not only to eliminate the presence of germs, viruses and bacterias but to maintain cleanliness with preventative measures that continue to keep these organisms from emerging and spreading.
Due to the short amount of time the covid-19 virus has been in circulation there is still plenty we do not know about this virus and more is being learnt everyday but there are things we do know.
For example we now know it can live on surfaces for up to nine days and can survive in the air for a few hours. It can also be spread through saliva and fluids from the lungs.
It is easy for an infected person to spread the virus through coughing, touching other people or leaving the virus on surfaces.
Considering all these factors we need to ask ourselves what can we be doing to help eliminate our risk?
1. Regular handwashing with soap and warm water.
This is one of the first lines of defence. Soap interferes with the fats in the virus shell and helps to lift the virus from the surface and is then rinsed off by the water.

2. Bleach and disinfectants
The active ingredient in bleach which is sodium hypochlorite is very effective at killing the virus. Allow the bleach to work on the surface for ten minutes and then wipe the surface with a clean cloth. The bleach works by destroying the protein of the virus. Be sure to use the bleach as directed on the bottle. Disinfectants work in a similar way to soap and water insomuch that the detergents interferes with the fats in the virus shell and kills virus. Please follow the instructions as directed on the bottle.

3. Hand Sanitizers
The main ingredient in hand sanitizers is ethanol, the alcohol in surgical spirit. But the concentration is key to killing the virus, it must be over 70% or it will not kill the virus effectively.
